The Midnight Library

oh my fuck

I haven’t read a book that made me binge-read in such a long time! My latest book club pick was just what I needed. The Midnight Library by Matt Haig is an exceptional book. It’s the easy Spring read that you want in your life.

Heads up, it can seem a bit morbid.

But that’s part of the beauty in the book. Here’s a quick synopsis from Good Reads

Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better?

It’s really an incredible concept that you can pick a new book in this ‘in between’ library and get transported to any new version of your life. The theories that are explained and philosophy that was talked about was just the icing on the cake. Everything about the way the characters were written and the perfect word choices throughout the book make it a winner for even most ‘non readers’.

Let me know if you decided to read it! I think I’ll do a book and wine pairing for this soon!
